17th International Conference on Biopartitioning and Purification

BPP 2013 - Newport, RI - October 6-10, 2013

Scientific Scope

The BPP conference series was originally established to address aqueous two-phase partitioning, but starting with the BPP 2003 meeting in Vancouver, the scope was broadened to include bioseparations technologies more generally. The focus is, however, on the underlying technical aspects, with business and regulatory aspects de-emphasized. Of course, research on the aqueous two-phase extraction of biologicals continues to have a special home within the BPP series.

Current topics relevant to the BPP conference series include:

  • Molecular and thermodynamic aspects of purification
  • Alternative partitioning methodologies such as flocculation, crystallization and phase partitioning
  • Integration of upstream and downstream operations, including purification in bioreactors
  • Novel purification methods and supports, including membrane-based purification processes
  • High-throughput screening and characterization
  • Emerging and disruptive technologies
  • Future challenges in bioprocessing
  • Continuous production and processing of proteins
  • Rational/high-throughput process design and the incorporation of PAT into system design
  • Protein engineering to enhance bioprocessing
